Synthesis of macrocyclic analogues of the neuroprotective agent glycyl-L-prolyl-L-glutamic acid (GPE).
The syntheses of seven macrocyclic analogues of the neuroprotective tripeptide glycyl-L-prolyl-L-glutamic acid (GPE) are described. Macrocycles 6 and 7 mimic the cis conformer of GPE whereas macrocycles 2-5, 8, and 9 mimic the trans conformer of GPE. The macrocyclic peptides of well-defined geometry were prepared via Grubbs ring closing metathesis of an appropriate diene precursor. In turn each...
متن کاملPolymers of tripeptides as collagen models. IV. Structure analysis of poly(L-proly-glycyl-L-proline).
Poly(L-prolyl-glycyl-L-proline) closely resembles collagen in its X-ray diffraction pattern, which indicates that it has a triple-helical structure with the same helical parameters as the protein. A detailed conformational analysis has been made of the polytripeptide. A computer was used systematically to generate structures having the observed helical parameters, as well as standard bond lengt...
متن کاملThe synthesis of glycyl-L-histidyl-L-phenylalanyl-L-arginyl-L-tryptophyl-glycine and its melanocyte-stimulating activity.
Recent work (l-3) on the synthesis of peptides composed of amino acid sequences that appear in both the adrenocorticotropins and the melanotropins has revealed that melanocyte-stimulating activity is enhanced as the length of the peptide chain increases (4). It was shown that the hexapeptide n-glutamyl-nhistidyl-~-phenylalanyl-~-arginyl-~-tryptophyl-glycine possesses an activity almost 10 times...

Attenuation of Antagonist-induced Impairment of Dopamine Receptors by L-prolyl - L-leucyl-glycinamide
ATTENUATION OF ANTAGONIST-INDUCED IMPAIRMENT IN DOPAMINE RECEPTOR ONTOGENY BY L-PROLYL-L-LEUCYL-GLYCINAMIDE by Mohamad Iqbal Saleh, M.D. It has been shown by others that the prenatal treatment of rats with haloperidol, a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, leads to a permanent reduction in the number of striatal dopamine D2 receptors in adulthood. Conversely, postnatal treatment of lactating dams ...
